Xinyi Zhang

Xinyi Zhang is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans across painting, installation, and new media.

Her visual and sensory works, depicting fantastical landscapes, metaphorical symbols of nature, and channeled objects from invisible realms, center on themes of transformation, spirituality, and care. Energies of nature are often invoked by the artist as regenerative and restorative counterforces to degradation and fragmentation experienced at the individual or collective level. Through her work, Zhang hopes to connect viewers to their own personal journeys of healing and transformation.

Zhang works intuitively through vibrations of color and gesture, engaging intimately with the subconscious during the act of creation. New media, and digital technologies such as AI are used to introduce interaction and further enhance forms of expression in her work.

A self-taught artist, Zhang holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2014) and a M.S. in Computer Science from University of British Columbia (2018). She has exhibited in contemporary galleries and community spaces in both the U.S and Europe.
