Xinyi Zhang

Xinyi Zhang is an artist and technologist working across painting, installation, and computational media.

Drawing on emerging technologies and diverse epistemologies, Zhang creates speculative ecologies and hybrid systems bridging the organic and algorithmic, the tangible and immaterial: dream machines for plants, robots steered by living brain organoids, calligraphic scripts for arboreal communication, and AI-mediated community gardens of the imagination. Within these spaces of encounter, technology becomes a medium for resonance, collective healing, and attunement to the natural world. The self widens into a web of relations, and other-than-human voices begin to speak.

Zhang holds computer science degrees from MIT and the University of British Columbia, with a background spanning award-winning research in generative AI and engineering for Disney, Pixar, and Google. Her artistic practice engages with frontier science through collaborations with research labs such as FinalSpark (organoid biocomputing) and IonQ (quantum computing). Her work has been shown in contemporary art spaces and community venues across the U.S. and Europe.
